Arrival and meeting with our tour leader at the airport. Transfer to the beautiful city of Catania. If you arrive in the morning you can spend a couple of hours visiting downtown with a local guide: Piazza Duomo, with its obelisk and the Dome. You will wander through the main streets boasting ancient buildings, a triumph of Baroque style. Transfer to Milazzo. Dinner and overnight.
In the morning you will catch the boat from Milazzo to Lipari. Upon arrival you will have time to relax on its wonderful beaches. In the afternoon you will have time to discover the secrets of this lovely place, tour the old town or visit of the Archaeological Museum housing a valuable exhibition of underwater archaeology
After breakfast you will embark to the island of Salina, famous for the iconic image of its twin volcanoes. You will go on excursion through the crater of the Fossa delle Felci and the panoramic Rifugio di Monte Rivi. You can admire the best vistas over the Aeolian Islands. In the afternoon we will take a boat back to Lipari where you will have free time to discover the secrets of its centre.
After breakfast we will embark to reach the Island of Vulcano, famous for its volcanic beaches and hot springs. You will make an excursion to the crater where it will be possible to observe the fumaroles, gas emanations coming from inside the earth. Free time to spend at the beach of volcanic sand or to take a thermal bath.
After breakfast you will reach the Stromboli Island, contemplating the volcano from a different perspectives. Visit of the charming village of Ginostra, located in one of the most beautiful corners, and the pretty village of San Vincenzo. In the afternoon, in order to appreciate the incandescent lava flows, you will make a spectacular ascent of the volcano with a volcanologist guide. You will contemplate the impressive volcanic activity. Catch your boat back and return to Lípari.
You will leave the Island of Lípari to return to Sicily. Upon arrival at the port of Milazzo, you will move on to Taormina, elegant and fashionable town, a chic resort spectacularly perched on the side of a mountain. Visit of the Greek theatre dating back to the 3rd century BC. Thanks to its natural setting, the site offers splendid views over the Calabrian coast, the Ionian coast of Sicily and the Etna.
Today you will know the Etna Volcano, discovering the alignment of large open craters during the eruptions of 2002: a spectacular views on the Ionian Coast. You will return to the hotel passing by the crest of the Bove Valley and the huge caldera formed by the collapse of an old volcano. Optional excursion to the top of Etna: Climb on the cable car up to 2,900 meters of altitude and approach in off-road vehicle, accompanied by a volcanologist guide,
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Catania airport to catch your flight home.
