Trip Highlights

Itinerary

Your tour begins in the Moorish village of Scopello, on the Sicilian northern coastline, close to one of the most pristine coastal Italian nature reserves: the Zingaro. A transfer will take you to the first accommodation.
Your excursion will start from the south entrance of the Zingaro Nature Reserve where a walk will take you through the enchanting paths of the mediterranean scrub. You will pass by little coves and admire wonderful landscapes. Finally you can have a bath in the crystalline water and enjoy a charming glimpse of the Gulf of Castellammare.
This day is dedicated to archaeology, you will visit the Archaeological area of Segesta, where the magnificent theatre on the northern slope of Monte Barbaro is nestled. A bit further down there is an imposing well preserved Doric temple whose majestic presence bestows nobility to the landscape. Then transfer to Trapani, lively port city with beautiful ancient palaces and churches.
You can catch the hydrofoil to the nearby island of Favignana. The island is a short crossing from Trapani and the walking will take you to the castle dominating the centre. Favignana is rich in bays with crystalline waters, the fishermen village is lively and cosy. You can also visit an ancient tuna factory established by the Florio, one of the most powerful families of Sicily between the end of XIX century and the beginning of XX century. Return to Trapani at the end of the day.
A private transfer will take you to the Monte Cofano Reserve for an unforgettable hiking around this area. The Mount Cofano, high 659 m, separates two gulfs: Cofano and Bonagia. This excursion has different kind of paths, the coastal one goes up to the summit from where it is possible to admire a breathtaking, unforgettable view.
Day at disposal to catch the hydrofoil to the island of Levanzo where a walk will unveil a marvellous grotto: the Grotta del Genovese. Here you can admire well preserved cave pantings and engravins dating back to 11 C BC. In alternative, you can go on a boat tour around the island to discover the hidden coves of the island.
You will take the public transport to reach the cable car to Erice, visit the enchanting medieval village with its castle and taste the superb almond biscuits, local specialty.
