Horizons and Paths of Sicily

You’ll start your holiday in the Moorish village of Scopello, on the northern coastline of Sicily lying adjacent to one of Italian most pristine natural reserves: the Zingaro. Then you will visit the archaeological site of Segesta. You’ll continue to discover Favignana and Levanzo, two wonderful Egadi Islands just off the western coast: a walker’s paradise. In the end visit of the medieval village of Erice and walking inside the enchanting Reserve of Monte Cofano.

Trip Highlights

Itinerary

Your tour begins in Scopello, fisherman village on the sea with an ancient Baglio rich of history. Inside the Baglio you can find a restaurant and small shops selling ceramics locally producted.
Your excursion will start from the southern entrance of the Zingaro Natural Reserve where a beautiful and evocative walk will lead you along paths overlooking the Mediterranean sea and enchanting groves. You’ll pass several coves, see many beauty spots and, if you wish, take a swim. Your walk will allow you to admire the colors of the sea and discover enchanting views over the Gulf of Castellammare.
This day is dedicated to archaeology, you will visit the Archaeological area of Segesta, where the magnificent theatre on the northern slope of Monte Barbaro is nestled. A bit further down there is a magnificent well preserved Doric temple whose majestic presence bestows nobility to the landscape. Then transfer to Trapani.
Today you will take the hydrofoil to reach the nearby island of Favignana. The island is a short crossing from Trapani and the walking is towards the Castle which dominates it. The island is rich of bays with crystalline waters, the fishermen village is lively and cosy. Come back to your accommodation in Trapani.
Excursion to the “Cofano Natural Reserve”. Mount Cofano, high 659 m, separates two gulfs: Cofano and Bonagia. This excursion has different kind of paths, the coastal path goes up to the summit from where it is possible to admire a breathtaking, unforgettable view.
Today you will take the hydrofoil to reach the island of Levanzo where a magnificent walk will take you to visit the marvellous Grotta del Genovese. Here you can enter a cave and admire well preserved paintings and engravins dating back to 11th Century BC. Optional excursion by boat for a tour around the island to discover enchanting hidden coves.
In the morning, departure for the medieval town of Erice where you can take in the sweeping panoramic vistas from its heights. Walk through its narrow streets and look at the colourful shops. Before leaving, you can taste a local specialty: almond biscuits.
